Carol Swain and Bruce Paley

Carol Swain and her partner, Bruce Paley sat down for a chat about her 2 new collections; Her collaboration with Bruce, Giraffes in My Hair: A Rock ‘N’ Roll Life and anthology collection Crossing the Empty Quarter. I am a huge fan of Carol’s cartooning work, she seems to bring a singularly unique vision to her work.

Wow, what a great interview. I love listening to Swain’s ideas about art and life. Thank you so much for this. She is still an enigma to me but now I’ve got a little better idea.

Nice to hear Carol talking, I’ll definitely order the book. I remember visiting her once in London in the early nineties when I’d just bought one her self published Way Out Strips and was ‘rather struck’ by it (even when backpacking I couldn’t stop buying books…). Been checking for new work by her ever since. Glad to see there is now.

Great to hear a bit o’ Beefheart on here! One of the rare times when I don’t want to get straight into the interview.

too bad the sound quality is so bad on this, I love to listen to women with English accents
